MAYA BLEU partners with Sandoway Discovery Center to help promote and bring awareness to Ocean Conservation.
Maya Bleu mission is to create luxury eco friendly products that give back to local ocean conservation organizations. Sandoway Discovery Center is an amazing facility with a passionate and knowledgeable staff that truly care about our majestic ecosystems. This is why joining forces with Sandoway Discovery Center was a perfect fit for us. In the upcoming future we plan on having events, lectures, and more to embrace our seas and promote ocean conservation.
HISTORY about Sandoway Discovery Center
Sandoway house was built in 1936, and "In 1995, The Friends of Sandoway House Nature Center, Inc. was formed with the express purpose of restoring the beachfront property for use as a nature museum highlighting marine and coastal life and natural local vegetation. The County of Palm Beach owns the property and leases it to the City of Delray Beach, who, in turn, sublet it to the Friends of Sandoway House. The building and property were opened to the public in May 1998. They started conducting programs for school children during the summer, as well as guiding many families of children and adults through the exhibits and other nature programs offered by the museum." - Sandoway Discovery Center
The nature center’s activities include daily shark and stingray feedings, twice a week alligator feedings.
Junior Naturalist program for at-risk youth, group education programs, outreach, beach and dune walks (presented by Dr. Angela Witmer), garden walks, live animal exhibits, fossil digs and more. The Friends of Sandoway House Nature Center, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about Delray’s coastal/marine ecosystems and natural history all to benefit future generations.
